God who gives us grace and royal crown

Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. |

21. |
the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. |

9. |
Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king, said, "A gallows seventy-five feet high stands by Haman's house. He had it made for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king." The king said, "Hang him on it!" |

9. |
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. |
9. |
10. |
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. |
10. |
2. |
From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. |
2. |
19. |
Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. |
19. |

God who gives us grace and royal crown
(Text) Esther 2:17
17. Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.
God gives us grace and crown.
New Year 2016 full of hope is dawning. Our life is not ours, but God’s. If it is ours, it has not so much sense of anticipation. But if it is God’s, we are able to be full of hope about God’s plan through this year.
God gives us grace and the crown. I bless this blessing to you so as to face the New Year. Esther indicates that we will receive the crown of victory and be protected by God as the children of God. Esther and Mordecai, which may be viewed as the hero or heroine in the book of Esther and showed Christian models. This is also the model of Christ who has won death.
Today's Word occurred is the era of the King Ahasuerus. King Xerxes in Greek pronunciation, was the Persian king who had ruled between BC485-464. He opened a great feast on the three years of his reign BC 482. The location was the Winter Palace of the king at Susan. The king wanted to show his glory. He invited a number of nobles. And, he attempts to brighten the banquet by calling his beautiful queen. However, Queen Vashti did not come out to the feast, rejecting the king’s order. This queen’s deed occurred to the public problem that wives would despise the husband. At last the king lay off the queen Vashti.
The king in BC478, at seven years of his reign, determines to select the new queen. The king recruits virgin in order to choose the queen in the Persian country. A Jew named Mordecai lived during that time. Jews had been living for 70 years as captives in Babylon. A small part of them had returned to their home country to follow Zerubbabel and Ezra. But most of them remained in the Persian lands. Mordecai was this residual Jewish descendant. He belonged to Benjamin tribe. He had a cousin. Her name was Hadassah. Esther in Persian was a beautiful virgin. Esther was an orphan. Mordecai brought up this Esther as his daughter. Esther was chosen as a candidate for queen. However, the king loved Esther more than the others. Esther won the favor of the king. We don’t know the reason why the king further loved Esther. We are only able to say that it is the providence of God. The king crowned on the head of Esther to be his queen. We Christians, in some respects, are the brides of Christ. We have been unilaterally selected by receiving the Lord's love. Lord put the beautiful crowns of the bride on top of our heads. God give us grace and crown. And then how does God appear specifically in the Bible to give us grace and crown?
1. God gives us grace by staying with us.
(Ge 39:21)
21. the LORD was with him. He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
Joseph was sold to Egypt hated by his brothers for the dreams that was seen in his boyhood. However, Joseph was sold to the house of Potiphar and prospered because he was with God. Master Potiphar saw the Lord God to be with him Potiphar ordered Jeseph to manage everything that he owned. The blessings were overflowed in Potiphar’s house. However, the wife of Potiphar seduced Joseph. Joseph was not fallen into temptation, but he was confined in prison. However, even in prison, God was with Joseph and blessed him. God does not forget us even when it is difficult in reality. Joseph received the blessing from the warden. He later, eventually became the Prime Minister of Egypt. God predetermined our lives. We are acknowledged by God. He called us to be righteous way. He makes us to be righteous men. He will give us to be glory. God is together with us by grace.
God gives us grace and crown.
2. God will break the enemy.
(Esther 7: 9)
9. Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king, said, "A gallows seventy-five feet high stands by Haman's house. He had it made for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king." The king said, "Hang him on it!”
God will beat our enemies. Do you have enemies who afflict you? This year may God bless you by destroying all the enemies. The enemy may also be a human; there is also a time to be a difficult problem of reality. However, behind it there is a spiritual battle. In the Persian kingdom at that time, there was a man named Haman. He tried to kill Mordecai. Eventually, all the Israelites were planned to be killed. He manipulated the king to send a letter to kill the Israelites across the country. Mordecai in the context of such crisis informed this fact to Esther. Esther decided to go before the king to save her people. Haman had already prepared already fifty cubits pole to kill Mordecai. Esther invited Haman and the king to the feast. However, the king did not sleep at that night. He read the Chronicle and found that he did not give the prize to Mordecai who protected him from the assassins. The king commanded to Haman to guide Mordecai by dressing the king’s clothes. This also clearly shows the providence of God. God protects his children through every circumstance. All of real existences show the covered providence of God. Esther has accused the crime of Haman to the king at the second feast. Haman was died by being hanged on a tree that he was built to kill Mordecai. The battle between Mordecai and Haman reminds the fight between Christ and Satan at the Cross. Satan was to kill Christ on the cross. However, it was not finished by Satan's victory but finished by complete victory of Christ. Christ has released us from the curse of sin forever. Cross is the place to disarm the weapon of Satan. Jesus won victorious, a triumphal march. God awards the prize in front of our enemy's eyes. (Ps 23: 5) God breaks our enemies.
God gives us grace and crown.
3. God gives us the crown of glory and honor by grace.
(Hebrews 2: 9)
9. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
Jesus became a little lower than the angels through the suffering of death. Suffering of death was a hardship for forgiving our sins. Though angels do not die, as a complete human being Jesus has been suffered in order to atone our sins. However, Jesus by resurrection wins over death. God has revived Jesus from the dead through the Holy Spirit. This Jesus was resurrected from the dead. If the Holy Spirit is in us, the Holy Spirit who raises Jesus from the death is able to give life to our mortal bodies. (Rome 8:11) After Jesus has been resurrected, he received the crown of glory and honor. Jesus is precious than the angels. He cannot be compared with the angels. He is not a creature but the Creator. Jesus not only received the glory but also provided the basis for us to receive the glory. Jesus always protects us by grace. God gives us the crown of glory and honor after the hardships.
God gives us grace and crown.
4. Through the sufferings God makes us to be completed.
(1 Peter 5:10)
10. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
God is the God of all grace. When our lives meet the problems, God gives us all the grace to solve all the problems. The reason is because the almighty God is standing beside us. The Holy Spirit is in front of me. So, even we are under any circumstances, we are able to live in joy and hope. (Acts 2: 25-26) God has been called us in Christ so that we may enter into his eternal glory. The hardships that we meet are the short hardships. After a short time of suffering, Lord makes us strong, firm and steadfast.
God gives us grace and crown.
5. God leads us to Jesus in grace when we cry out.
(Ps 61: 2)
2. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Everyone sometimes may feel his heart to grow faint. It means that the mind has become weak, or has been pressed. When we meet with the difficult challenges to solve, we will be pressed. When there is no helping hand, we will be in despair. However, even at a time like this, there is something that we are able to do. It is to cry out to God. Even when we are at the end of the sea, we are able to cry. Because God is there is. Jonah, cried out to God even down to the deep sea. And the Lord heard his prayer. The Bible tells us to pray by waking up incessantly in the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 6:18) The Holy Spirit is praying along God’s mind. How can we pray along to God’s mind? It is to pray by holding God’s Word. God’s word is the most reliable Lord's will shown to us. And, we need to pray along with the mind of the Holy Spirit. And by prayer we are able to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We can pray more deeply by the Holy Spirit. When we pray, the Lord will answer to us. And, it leads us to a high rock. The High rock, ultimately, is the abundant grace of Christ. God poured out the mineral water when Moses hit the rock. However, more importantly, it is to lead us to the full grace of Christ. Prayer will lead us to the grace of Christ. And, the grace of Christ is enough to solve all our problems.
God give us grace and crown.
6. Christ has paid the entire price of sin in order to make us precious.
Christ is the king of glory who has won on the cross.
(John 19: 19-22)
19. Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
The biggest reason that we can be precious is not by our righteousness or talent. The fundamental reason is because the Lord has paid all of the cost.
Pilate allowed Jude to kill Jesus on the cross. Jesus went to the place called Golgotha bearing his cross. Jesus was crucified. On the left and right sides of the cross of Jesus, the other two men have been crucified. One person laughed at Jesus. He said Jesus save himself by coming down from the cross. The other one believed in Christ at the last moment. Jesus said to him to enter the heaven with him. Jesus died by saying ‘It is finished’. Jesus is the person who paid all the price of sin on the Cross. Jesus is the king of glory who got the victory by paying all the price of sin. Pilate wrote Jesus sin on the cross. It was ‘the King of the Jews, Jesus of Nazareth’. The high priest wanted Pilate to write the self claimed king of Jews. However, Pilate said ‘what I have written, I have written.’ Jesus is the king of glory who gives us eternal victory. We, when we meet the extreme difficulty in this world, we are able to win enough by Christ, the king of this glory who loves us. (Romans 8: 36-37) We will win enough because Christ is our eternal king. Christ is the king of glory who has paid the entire price in order to make us to be precious.
I will summarize today’s word.
God gives us grace and crown.
